What's up?

Hi, everyone! It's been a while!

Sorry for abandoning the blog so out of the blue. It was very much unplanned, and I was hoping to come back as soon as possible so I never left any official statement as to where I am and what is going on. However, the break extended more than I expected...

I'm happy to be back though! I missed this place and all the lovely people who read my posts :) Thank you so much for your understanding and patience!

So what actually happened?

It might sound silly, but in October I picked up a subject to study which I became quite serious about. It is an extensive course with everyday lessons for several hours. And, at first, I (barely) managed to juggle the two: this blog and the studies. I even made some super-goals for the blog and embroidery! But eventually, I guess I burned out.

You see, I'm a monotasker through and through. I can't even work on two embroidery projects at once because my mind gets easily overwhelmed.

So, around the end of the 2020 year I went through a slump of sorts when it was difficult to concentrate on anything at all. I prioritized studies because I really wanted to get my feet firm there from the very beginning. Knowing myself, if I didn't do that, I would fall behind and when it would be too far to catch up I would eventually just give up. And I didn't want to give up.

Of course, there were some other factors too which made me lose a chunk of my motivation. But all in all, it added to the state of being burnt out.

Nevertheless, I continued stitching little by little.

I decided to give myself some space and just enjoy embroidering as much as I'm comfortable with. With no deadlines, no pressure, just me and my needle and thread.

If you follow my Instagram you probably noticed a slight change in my style!

I suddenly discovered a lot of joy in working with the golden metallic thread! I'm using DMC Diamant in all of these pieces, and the way they glitter in the sunlight and artificial light is truly magical! I guess I needed a bit of spark during that period, and Alhamdulillah, I'm very thankful for being able to stitch something as uplifting as this.

The crescent on the right is already available in my shop as a pattern with step by step instructions, but you might want to wait a couple of days until I prepare a coupon for subscribers :)

Anyway, I just wanted to express my gratitude to everyone who lingers on this blog. With my inactivity I expected the blog to get deserted and it is baffling that there are still many people browsing it. Thank you, truly!

I can't promise to be as frequent in my posts as before, but I'm willing to try and hop back on a somewhat regular schedule, Inshallah.

How are you these days? How is life? I wish that all of you are healthy and safe!

  4. Thank you for the update and the peek at your beautiful new work. During these still scary days of Covid I get worried when blogs I follow are inactive for any significant period of time, but I can definitely relate to getting overwhelmed and burned out. I'm glad you're well and have found new inspiration. Take care, enjoy what you're doing, and share when you can, whenever it's right for you.
