The new patterns are
already launched! You can get them 20% off the price up until
Sunday 22nd, and, by the way, this discount is valid for
the whole Jewel collection :)
And now let me tell you
more about this sweet couple!
So, I actually started
working on Amethyst and Ruby back in summer. I drew the patterns,
traced them, thought through the color palettes, and even almost
completed embroidering Amethyst, when suddenly the idea of a video
course came to my mind and I immediately rushed to the other side :D
In the end, I focused all
of my attention on the course because I just can't have
simultaneous projects (I know I won't do well for either of them) and
Amethyst had to go to the special drawer where all old and unfinished
pieces rest... sob sob.
The thing is, in November
I could already go back to Amethyst and finish it, finally! But I
just barely could force myself! Argh, that's why I don't take
projects that I know I can't tackle in one go. You know, the
long-term ones. It's just that if I take a break after them, it might
be hard to get back on the track.
With Amethyst, the
situation was absolutely ridiculous because I was very happy and
excited to work it at first and I left it literally when only half of
the geometric frame was left. But after the break, I had to drag
myself to finish it. In the first several days I did only a bit of
stitching, but as it often happens, in the end, I once again regained
my embroidery juices and powers and finished it on a happy note!
I might have told you
before, but I have this peculiar... quirk? That somewhere, when the
project is almost finished, it is the hardest period for me to stitch
it. And then, when it comes to the last stitches, it gets easy and
exciting again :D I wonder if it is because at some point I can
already see how it is turning out and the curiosity of how the
finished piece will look like dies and so a bit of excitement goes
away...
Well, that's not the point
for today's post!
Anyway, after Amethyst was
finished, I rushed to Ruby and it got completed very quickly. I just
love this flower. It was so easy to stitch even though I wasn't sure
about my color choice until the last minute (that's why I
embroidered it second so that I could have some more time to think
through the palette).
And now, here they are:
beautiful, glowing and ready to be worked by all the lovely
stitchers.
I love how they got
different vibes going on.
To me, Ruby feels very
confident and bold. Maybe the way I worked it also adds to that mood,
because she was like an embodiment of “veni, vidi, vici”! I just
sat to work it and without me noticing, it was already complete.
Amethyst, on the contrary,
feels very calming, soothing and … slow, haha. Yeah, it's
definitely my experience of working them speaking. But even putting
that aside, I think this color palette is really pacifying.
As for the technical side
of these designs, you can probably see that they use long and short
stitching quite heavily. Speaking of that, you might also notice that
Ruby has a very charming “patchy” shading on the front petals.
But that's actually not the patchy shading I wrote about before. In
fact, this effect is achieved by simply using variegated thread :)
That's a secret, don't tell anyone!
There is one more “trick”
we practice on both of these designs. I wonder if you can tell by
their appearance? There is one similar characteristic they have.
Well I will leave it for
you to guess :)
So, now the Jewel Series
have 4 designs. I'm not saying it is “complete” because like I
said in the preview there
are still ideas for at least 3-4 more flowers in my mind. But for
now, I'm going to leave it here and work on something new. It will be
interesting to revisit this series later :)
Vacations
Almost forgot! Stitch Floral goes on vacation starting today and until middle of January. I will still be working on this and that behind the scenes, so it's hard to call it vacations, to be honest :D But I'm just freeing more time by taking a break from blogging for a month.
Hope to see you again next year, stay helathy and happy and spend your time in the way that you enjoy the most! ❤
